Recently, the Book Club welcomed guest speaker Dr. Jay Merriam,DVM,
owner of the Mass Equine Clinic in Uxbridge. Dr. Merriam had recently returned
from Haiti where he assisted with the care of some of the large animals in the
earthquake damaged area. The Adult Book Discussion group had just read
Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder, a book that details the
accomplishments of Dr. Paul Farmer, a Harvard professor who has helped build
clinics in remote areas of the world, including Haiti. Dr. Merriam spoke to the
group about what he saw, how he helped, and his admiration for Dr. Farmer.

PageTurners Book Discussion Group for Seniors
In cooperation with the Council on Aging, the Library is offering a monthly book
discussion group for seniors at the Senior Center, 36 So Main St, Uxbridge.Meeting
dates for the summer are Thursday, July 15th from 1-2pm, and Thursday, August
12th from 1-2pm. Hope to see you there!
