Make a Tax Deductible Contribution to the Library!
The Library's mission is "to serve the town of Uxbridge as a center for education, culture, recreation and information". This past year the Library offered over one hundred programs for children, teens and adults in the community, many of them sponsored by the Library Board of Trustees or the Friends of the Library. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation towards future programming, please send contributions to the Library Board of Trustees or the Friends of the Library with "Programs" in the notation field.
Thank you for your support!

The Friends of the library now offer you a simple way to support the library--with the donation of your old books/CDs/DVDs.  In the back library parking lot you will find a donation box.  Simply leave your items in the box.  When the box is full, the items will be collected, and the Friends will earn cash for the benefit of the library.

Library Auditorium Repairs
Top floor to be closed to the public
The Library's auditorium on the top floor is currently undergoing much-needed repairs.  Over the next week or so the entire top floor will be inaccessible as the renovations progress.  Obviously this will impact those doing research for genealogy and local history purposes.  We will be unable to help with research questions involving those collections until late June and apologize for any inconvenience.

One Book One Community Project
In collaboration with Kirsten Fournier, the Uxbridge High School Librarian, the Uxbridge Free Public Library, the Council on Aging and the Uxbridge Cable Access TV, we are embarking on a One Book, One Community project this year focused on the immigrant experience in America!

The book chosen is Christopher Castellani's final title in a trilogy based on his parents' immigration to the United States from Italy, due to be published in February of this year and entitled All This Talk of Love.  The first 50 people who register for the program will receive a free copy of this title courtesy of the Library Board of Trustees.  We ask that there be one copy per family, please!

Upcoming events will include a panel forum at the Uxbridge High School on Wednesday, July 17th at 7pm on the Immigrant Experience with Chris, Dr. Eileen Angelini, Massachusetts Book Award winner Vincent Cannato (American Passage: a history of Ellis Island), Henriette Lazaridis Power (The Clover House) and Marjan Kamali (Together Tea).  Copies of all author's books will be available for purchase and booksigning after the program, courtesy of the Millbury Barnes & Noble.

This fall we plan a film/performance series featuring Mary King & Friends, who will regale us with tales of Irish immigrants in story and song.  We are also organizing an intergenerational oral history project involving Uxbridge High School students who will interview seniors in our community about their own experiences.  Barry Giles of Uxbridge Community TV will release a finished documentary to be aired on the local cable station.

If you know someone who might be interested in sharing their stories about immigration to the United States, please contact Jane at the Library at 508-278-8624, ext. 101.
